My Little Bookworm

I always hoped to have a daughter who loved books as much as I do. When Tahlia was newborn we would try to read her books but she never had the patience for it. Lately though, she has become really obsessed - which is great! I have to be careful what I wish for though, because we have to read the same books over and over and over to her. Sandra Boynton books are her favorite (take note - Patti!).

So, we'll get to the last page of a book and she starts fussing until I start it over again. I know there have been times when I've read the same book to her 10 times in a row or more. And, she is a speed reader. She turns the pages so fast that I barely have time to get the words out.

Anyway, I do love it. When we cuddle on the sofa together with a book, it's everything I ever daydreamed about. She's my sweet little bookworm.

Oh and on a totally unrelated note - today Chris' mom found Tahlia in her playpen. She was supposed to be napping but instead she was playing in there and had taken off her pants! I think we have a little nudist in the family.

Oh Christmas Tree

Tahlia just loves the Christmas tree. Whenever we're walking around the house, she always makes a beeline for it. And she just can't keep the smile off her face when we go to visit the tree.

Kissy Kissy

So, Chris and I want Tahlia to learn how to give kisses so last night I was holding her and Chris was right there with me and I was going KISS! and Chris would give me a kiss. Rinse and repeat like 15 times. (We have done this several times before). She always laughs when we do it and I get extra kisses so it is great all around.

Anyway last night after a few kisses, she started putting one hand on the back of my head and one on Chris' head and when I said KISS! she would push our heads together to make us kiss. It was so hilarious and she was cracking herself and us up.

Here is her current idea of kissing - she makes out with the refrigerator, but doesn't know how to give Chris or me a little peck on the lips. Hence - the lessons!

One of These Things is Much Like the Other

Dad just emailed me a photo of Patti and me when we were babies and I was amazed at how much Tahlia resembles us! Can you guess which is which?

It's funny too because everyone is always saying that she looks like a miniature version of Chris. At any rate - she is very, very cute. Have I mentioned that before?

The Girl Who Would Cuddle Anything

Tahlia has reached a stage where she wants to cuddle with just about anything. It's so sweet and wonderful, yet it has me wondering about her taste. She will snuggle up with any and all of the following objects:

  • Stuffed animals (a given)

  • Chris, Mimi, and me

  • Her sippy cup

  • A shoe

  • A roll of paper towels

  • A napkin

  • A remote control

  • Various books

It's so sweet and cute. Every time she does it, we are seemingly forced to ooh and ahh over her and exclaim something like "awww, cuddlebug!".

But honestly, I wonder about her sometimes. Her standards for cuddle-ability are really very low.
